Today is Mountain Day in Japan, but Canadians have some pretty impressive mounds of rock as well. Did you know that Canada has the oldest mountain range in North America? At over 4 billion years old, the Torngat Mountains has seen some things. This mountain range, 300km long and covering 30,000 square km, is located on the Labrador Peninsula at the northern tip of Newfoundland and Labrador and eastern Quebec. Torngat National Park is open year round, but due to its remote location, it only gets 600-ish visitors annually. Visitors must be accompanied by armed Inuit escorts because polar bears are prevalent on the rocky shores. Getting eaten by a polar bear is likely too much excitement for a camping trip.

I'm up to 109,977 CSP points, 87,182 United Miles, 30,000 Hyatt Bonus Rewards, and 102,218 Venture X miles. (It's the power of the Welcome Bonus.) By the end of the year, I want to get Hyatt up to 60,000 and then I should be able to cover hotels on the CSP and Hyatt points and cover airfare on the other two for two weeks in Japan. It's incredible that the Alberta Premier continues to claim a pipeline to the Northwest (Prince Rupert) is possible. Premier Eby was not there because he was in the middle of a pre-planned trip to Asia (Japan, South Korea, Malaysia). And he said today there won't be any reconsideration of another oil pipeline, "decarbonzed" or not. And Japan has no interest in heavy oil anyway.
"But Eby continued to pour cold water on other premiers' talk of building another oil pipeline across B.C. to the coast, saying there is already the taxpayer-owned Trans Mountain Pipeline, which is not being used to full capacity.
He added that the Japanese don't want heavy oil and thermal coal. And he has not altered his stance against lifting the heavy oil tanker ban on B.C.'s North Coast.”
