Question in my course today:
🤷 How do I know if I can publish a preprint? Do journals allow it? 🤷
A preprint is usually submitted to a preprint server at the same time or before submitting to a Journal. Almost all journals allow preprints. You can check the journal regulations: https://v2.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo/

"In the largest study to date, we compared the accuracy of 3,347 citing claims to original findings across 89 articles in eight of top psychology journals. Results indicated that, although most (81.2%) citations were accurate, roughly 19% of citing claims either failed to include important nuances of results (9.3%) or completely mischaracterized findings from prior research altogether (9.5%)."

What I like in scientific journals: when they publish the reviews together with the article!
What I don’t like in scientific journals: when they start the review by saying “sorry but we can’t publish your paper in our extremely great journal” when what they actually mean is “please do what the reviewers say and then we will publish it”

The running costs of funding these journals directly under such a model would be orders of magnitudes less than the current model.
Research funding agencies should really step in and make open access free and available.
