why did it take me so long to buy a e-reader
i got a kobo forma for 130 GBP (it's a display unit. if i'm unsure about an electronics purchase i ~always buy used) and i feel like it's already paid for itself in a sense

I also finally got around to setting up a local Wallabag instance running in a FreeBSD jail on the home server, and applying the requisite hacks to my Kobo to replace its now-gone Pocket support (shakes fist at Mozilla)

@… love my Kobo Libra.
Just read that Mozilla has decided to shut down Pocket (!?!). Its integration with Kobo e-readers is great and something I will miss. It will be difficult to find a similarly practical way to read web articles on my e-reader, other than the somewhat clunky pdf-saving cloud sync method. Any tips much welcome!
@… I was in the same boat when I was gifted a Kindle. The fact that they aren't compatible with Canadian library systems also helped with justifying the return, and I got a refurbished Kobo instead.
using kobo forma with koreader makes me feel like i'm from the Star Trek future holding a powerful artifact
it does what it should, it's pleasant to interact with, it has good aesthetics, and it helps me understand books in a way paper doesn't (context sensitive dictionary lookup turns out to be really important for me)
it's been a day and the thing already feels like an extension of myself; and i never have to work around it
