Series B, Episode 05 - Pressure Point
AVON: If I can fire at ground level, the beam radiation should be great enough to cut a narrow channel through the sensor mesh. That would give you eight seconds to get from here to the blockhouse. The mesh would start its repair cycle instantly. Take one step off the channel and you're dead. I know it's a slim chance, but it's the best I can come up with.
BLAKE: Let's try it.

Claude 3.7 describes the image as: "This image appears to be from a vintage science fiction television series from the late 1970s or early 1980s. The scene shows four people in distinctive costume attire kneeling or sitting in a grassy outdoor setting with vegetation in the background.

The costumes are quite notable - one person wears a burgundy/red padded outfit, another is in a beige/yellow costume, while the others are dressed in darker clothing. The styling and production aesthetic is char…

Jippi!
I've repaired my Laptop! Or lets say I've replaced my cracked trackpad... With one of another colour, as I am only able to check compatibility on technical level, not a stylish one ... Well anyways I'll just say it has its own character.

The focus of this picture is to show the insides of the opened laptop, especially one thing I noticed all over it: There are markers for places certain screws go in (they differ between screw kind), which helped reassembly a lot!
A picture of the UEFI system test for the trackpad. It passed with everything checked.

Hidden note: It also works great in my Fedora install.
A picture of the trackpad and keyboard of the reassembled laptop. It reveals I ordered a whiteish trackpad for a black laptop.
A general picture of my workspace during the switch of trackpads. The opened laptop takes up most of the space, a lot of the rest is taken up by iFixit tools.

Welp, after breaking out the level and getting everything perpendicular: those shelves are absolutely driving me crazy as it still looks like everything is sloped. Ended up buying the full-length T2 shelves and that should fix the problem. If not then I will resort to more drastic measures.

A perfectly perpendicular minirack with shelves that are 100% not. It's so damned annoying...

We saw some people zooming around on Ullswater today on things that can only be described as hover boards but on water.
They did look incredibly cool and great fun, so when we got back to our rental cottage we decided to look up how much they were. Maybe I could use one to commute up the Manchester Ship Canal to work every day!
Yeah, that's not gonna happen. These things start at just under £10k for the entry level model.

Omfg, as much as I have mixed feelings about setting up ecommerce stores of any kind, Freewebstore is another level of nightmare.
Simulated chatbot "conversations" that make onboarding / offboarding annoyingly lengthy. GIVE ME OLD-FASHIONED FORMS GOD DAMMIT.
UX that treats me like a toddler while trying way too hard to upgrade me to a paid plan.
Oh, and of course. AI. AI this, AI that 😓 😡
Never, never, never again.

A lost cupcake couple
Taken 28 March 2025
#Urban #Street #Ground #Cupcake

Two cupcakes sit on an asphalt street in front of the curb. The left cupcake is intact but upside-down. It has a red wrapper and white icing with red flecks. The cake itself is hard to see but it looks light colored. The right cupcake has been squished. Its white wrapper is sprawled out and underneath, brown cake is spread out on the road. The photo is taken at ground level and the vertical side of the curb takes up most of the view. Above the curb can be seen two multistory buildings, one of r…
