I can understand not supporting old devices in perpetuity, but on top of having discontinued the ability to side-loading content via USB? Amazon's messaging is pretty clear, in a hostile capitalism kind of way.

An animated GIF from the movie Goodfellas. The voiceover narration tells the viewers about the harsh nature of a business owner entering a deal with the mob. It doesn't matter what struggles you have, the attitude is "fuck you, pay me." In the scene, a suited Ray Liotta is walking through a warehouse while mobsters are walking past with boxes of whiskey, looking at clothing, etc. They're looting the place to receive their compensation.

It bothers me WAY more than it should that websites feel slower today than they did 10 years ago. Everything else related to loading a web page is faster, but the software has become worse and worse.

$ sudo sh -c 'echo "install algif_aead /bin/false" > /etc/modprobe.d/disable-algif.conf'
Then unload the module if it is currently loaded, like so:

Bilder machen bei vielen Shops über 50 % des Seitengewichts aus – und werden kaum optimiert. 🖼️
Dateiname "IMG_4832.jpg" sagt Google nichts. Alt-Text fehlt. Format ist JPEG statt WebP. Lazy Loading? Fehlanzeige.

Well, okay (after libxapian.so.30 was thrown out of the window and GoldenDict-ng got completely crippled)
It felt like it needed to compile the entire Qt5 framework, but at the end, all is well and working
* I had to change all instances of GoldenDict-ng to GoldenDict in my scripts for them to start working again

Bagmuck
I'm going to put this here, for now and maybe develop it further.
As a student I worked on a market garden which also had a small line in agricultural supplies. Every so often we had the job of loading bags of inorganic fertiliser onto lorries or trailers. The word used for it was bagmuck.
I think bagmuck captures rather well what this is. It's a substitute for muck, dung, manure, that comes in a bag. From ICI in those days.
Bagmuck /contd.

Actually the brown car was me 5 years ago, now I just park in the back of the lot. No congestion, The extra steps are good for me.

The diagram shows two main parking areas with a central drive aisle. The key on the left describes yellow cars as "Cars that aren't leaving anytime soon," orange as "The one car in the lot that is about to leave but is loading 10 years of groceries into their car," pink as "Very stressed dad with his wrong blinker on who is about to forget how to park," …

I helped out at the Family Bike Ride this morning in Cambridge/Boston. Turns out probably the most helpful think I did, was to load all the cones onto the trailer on my bike, and haul them to the organizer's home -- for him, it is two trips, for me, just one (though it was darn heavy, but I have e-assist on that bike, and in a pinch, legs).

A big dummy bicycle with trailer attached, next to five stacks of Awareness Cones, to be loaded onto the trailer.

The bike is pointed wrong-way in the bike lane on the Washington Street Bridge over the Charles River in Boston. It got moved before loading, but the bike lane is also not busy.
A Big Dummy with trailer attached, and the trailer is loaded with Awareness Cones (and they are heavy). The cones are slightly lashed in place.
