— See Mark, my father said softly, look how with a thin blade I can help it out of the cocoon

From the viewport, I could see outer space, the almost infinite expanses of the galaxy. My father, dressed in a heavy red and golden jacket, was sitting next to the terrarium on the table.

— Are you listening Mark?
— Yes, Father

My father straightened his back. A complicated feat for a man that already kept it so straight. The m…
My father was now to the verge of crying, his eyes were swelling with tears that the lack of gravity in our ship could not let roll on his cheeks.

— See, Mark, these Baronets have now the duty to keep the memory of these animals alive. Maybe Todd's father is right now sitting next to his son, at a desk similar to this, showing him the empty terrarium that held the last of the very small creatures they were tasked to defend.
— Does it mean that Todd will learn to draw?

Father was surprised by …

This incite in to what my ubuntu system is doing that would have taken hours of time to research if I ever could have learned it at all had I not used an LLM. I'll continue to caveat that LLMs have many many things about them that are bad on multiple levels.
Using LLMs to fix system problems is doing something I wouldn't be able to do otherwise.

Summary of the whole investigation:
- The "crash" was a systemd-oomd/earlyoom OOM cascade, not a kernel panic or hardware fault — the shutdown itself was clean.
- Root driver: Firefox (running unrestarted for 5+ days) ballooned to ~17 GB RAM; likely contributors are the long session plus extensions that run continuous scripts on video pages (AutoTwitchPoints, enhanced-h264ify) — worth watching if it recurs.
- Fixed: removed the redundant earlyoom daemon, and added an early soft memory cap so th…

Good morning from SteamOS :pingunootnoot: Doing some testing from the live installer. Installed Librewolf and then copied over my profile folder from my boot disk so now I have all my tabs and stuff ready to go. Installing the "usual suspects" looking for any issues, haven't hit any yet. Did have to scale down the display from like 160% or whatever the default is. This 48 inch monitor has plenty of space, don't need to be that zoomed in lol. Haven't gotten too far yet …

ILA is now working, but only for single-bit signals. Multi-bit still needs a data type defined in ngscopeclient (yes, we've gone this long without defining a multi bit waveform type)

Screenshot of ngscopeclient displaying all of the 1-bit control signals from an APB bus but without any of the vectors visible

he UK proposal to use “solar bonds”
to make rooftop solar more affordable
is a smart solution to a fundamental problem:
the rising cost of capital
A household that can pay for solar upfront saves money from day one.
For everyone else, high-interest financing can consume much of those savings
and ultimately deter people from installing the technology.
A solar bond structure changes that equation:
investors receive a modest, guaranteed return,

Finally all done, bar one little patch that needs a quick dab with the paint pad on the long handle. I can't undo it atm to extend it, just waiting for the strong arm of @… to undo it for me 😄 One before, two afters. Payment is a Chinese takeaway tonight 🍜 #DIY

Stairwell with horizontal white slats, oatmeal carpet and grey-lilac paint covered in lots of blobs of polyfilla. Two cats just visible. This is Before.
The same stairwell sans chats and now painted mangolia. Yes I do know that's not how you spell it but let me have my fun. The awkward patch is right at the top of that big wall.
The landing, looking the other way, painted mangolia. Pretty plain and unexciting but now much brighter and not scruffy any more. A large art deco style mirror hangs on the wall.

here is another disused bridge i found earlier this week.
#bridge

view along a narrow disused Victorian road bridge over a railway not long before sunset. some graffiti on the right hand wall. a couple of concrete blocks for some reason. there is no road leading to it any more. maybe to stop farm vehicles, maybe it wouldn't handle the weight. over grown with brambles. the blackberries tasted bad also.
