Ugh, shouldn't nginx streams work for minecraft servers?
I wanna do a [public domain in a free vps] -> [Velocity server in my NAS] -> [Minecraft server]
But I can't seem to get that to work...
Connecting directly to Velocity from Tailscale (including with a special local only domain in custom DNS) works, but the public address via nginx doesn't :(

So this is an old paper, but I was reviewing some stuff and re-read it just now, and was once again glad that people are doing research like this, and that the results are so lovely. A great antidote to despair about "human nature" is to just look at what kinds of communities kids can actually make for themselves when given a positive framework to work from and actual agency.

Runs on a Debian box in my basement that has no Java installed at all. And the kids want special versions with special mods etc. ~25 lines of compose file with TYPE=FABRIC, VERSION=1.21.11...
The world is a bind-mounted folder on the host! So this morning I bumped the image to a newer JVM in about 30 seconds of downtime.
I could move it to beefier hardware in minutes if required!
(although I can't afford beefier hw in RAMPOCALYPSE 😭)

Any ways I could like somehow host a Minecraft server in my NAS and then use my free tier VPS with tailscale to let people access the server without needing to get into my VPN?
I do that with nginx for some web pages, but that's http which is a completely different story...
