I'm still sad so many sysadmins told me twitter would go down and never come back up or be down for days when Elon fired everyone and then it had a bump ride but was mostly "fine". fine in that the posting continued mostly uninterrupted.

periodic reminder that Dunning-Kruger effect is mostly statistical error and if you're using it as a part of your worldview, that's maybe a problem.
Doubly so since a naive reflection of it is a belief in a fascist ubermensch who's just smarter than everyone else. You can justify deeply anti-democratic ideals with it. So consider this carefully.

Something fun is growing inside a double-glazing panel near our washing machine; I guess it's loving being kept warm a lot of the time (and probably a bit damp). Couldn't say if it's fungal or bacterial or what but it certainly looks very fractal.

Not to denigrate the effort that requires! Peak sports are amazing feats of endurance and determination. That's just the table stakes, and mostly not the determiner of who wins.
