However, it doesn't seem to be a device that is supported by i.e. /e/OS or Sailfish. Does that mean I best forget it or are there other ways to fit this particular phone with a Google-free OS?

I didn't nurse Mum but was fairly involved when she needed residential care and it was clear she wouldn't live beyond a few months. I started to process her death in advance, which can feel disloyal.

Realised today that the VSCC hill climb at Cwm Whitton must be soon so looked up the date and stuck it in the diary. This may well be our 25th year going! It's a family fixture. Anyway I realised how busy late Sept and October are looking, there's loads going on including seeing expat rellies, scattering a bit of Mum in Brighton, going on another metal detecting rally, as well as the hill climb and if I feel brave enough joining work peeps for drinks. Well I discovered this week that I have SEVEN DAYS of leave available still this year. As I work for them three days a week that's two weeks plus. Looking at a week in October and another late November-early December, taking people up on their offers of spare rooms and returning the visits folk made to us when Mum was ill. Plus I'll get the dining room painted and sort out our new family business website. Not restful but not shoe-horned in either

So as I've been droning on about, I'm doing lots of painting in the house. Next is the dining room. I have to live with the wood chip wallpaper but it's currently clinical white. I was all set to go with a sage tone to complement the fabulous orange dining chairs but I'm now leaning towards a fresh lemony colour as it's such a light sunny room. Current light is very Mum, a crystal drop arrangement which will be going. Instead I am totally in love with these.

I like being married to someone who can wire things in no bother 😄 I'd blow us all up if I tried. For years Mum was the only person in our house who could wire a plug, having demonstrated kitchen appliances for the Electricity Board in her youth. She tried to teach me but I could never remember the colours. How is brown not earth? It was downhill from there. Anyway that's why I have that delicious Kenwood lemonade recipe which will always remind me of her.
