I could not find a working example for command line VLC to convert a WEBM video file to an MP3 audio file, so here you go:
vlc -I dummy INPUT_FILE.webm --no-sout-video --sout-transcode-samplerate 44100 --sout "#transcode{acodec=mp3,ab=128,channels=2}:std{access=file,mux=raw,dst=OUTPUT_FILE.mp3}" vlc://quit

Hmm, I think this will be the temporary traffic light set outside that's causing havoc with our TV; I guess it's swamping the mast-head amp; that's coming in ~10dB stronger than the BBC DVB-T mux.
Anyone got suggestions - I was thinking of making a stub to see if I could at least get rid of that by the time it got to the TV; I guess the ideal would be a >500MHz high pass.
(Also, anyone know of something more featureful/robust than gqrx?)
