I've been having some fun with my personal kubernetes cluster -- and since I couldn't find information on creating ReadWriteMany volumes in LKE (linode), I worked out the details of how to do it. I've just written up the complete instructions on my blog: https://startup2scala…
🇬🇧 The longer form of #blog posts has temporarily started to tire me out a bit, plus I have an additional project on the side for the blog that consumes some of my time. Because of this, lately I've been finding a lot of joy in writing shorter notes like this recent one about #KoboldLetters
I wrote a quick blogpost on how I use @…'s @… to make sure that my blog posts are archived in a way that they remain findable and accessible if my blog ever disappears. 🏛️

I have to make the theme of my Hugo-based blog responsive https://alpo.gitlab.io/jots/. It’s based on Ananke theme which is using Tachyons CSS framework. And I don’t even know where to start.
It's really encouraging to see that Freexian lets its employees spend 20% of their time working on any kind of Debian work they like, and another 10% on some agreed Debian goals.
This on top of the sort-of-crowd-funded LTS work that everyone gets to benefit from.

@… what a small world. I was browsing mentions (funny, I found it on bing, checked later and it's not indexed on Google) and then checked the blog and was like "yeah, it should be indexed". Meaning my social bubble here was right when they recommended it ;)
Pikmin 3 Deluxe: I found a pear
I have a tendency to come to the Pikmin games late. I completed the first game on the GameCube, over two years after it released, due to people on uk.games.video.misc enthusing about it. I previously on this blog said that I played it twice, the second time in order to come in under the 30-day limit, but I think I was mistaken on that point; my first playthrough on the GameCube…

Trying a new blog thing, a music practice journal. I kind of ran into a bit of a roadblock on my progress and threw up my hands for a bit. Trying to come back to playing again with some dedication and focus, but also looking to see ways to help push a bunch of my pieces over the finish line.
Anyone have any good tips for how to get pieces to a finished state when you are close, but aren't able to reliably play them consistently?
@… Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog. Really glad to hear that, especially the on-by-default part. My posts & blogs on C2PA seem to get pretty good traction, maybe shoot me a pointer when you guys do anything significant in this space, and I’ll probably boost.
New blog post: Python Project-Local Virtualenv Management Redux

Konami just put out a HD collection for one of my favorite games ever, Felix the Cat, for Switch and PlayStation (it's among several for a blog post I almost have done on video games I'm obsessed with).
The new collection includes both the NES and Game Boy versions & allows for saving and rewinding at any time (maybe I'll finally beat it! 🤣)
This'll eventually be a must-grab for me, but I gotta wait for a sale on this one.

An important Godot for iPad milestone.
These are two instances of a full-blown Godot running side-by-side in the same process.
The next step on the virtualization idea that I shared on the blog post [1]
But this time, rather than being one-at-a-time, they are simultaneous.
This was necessary to support debugging of Godot apps on the iPad (and soon Vision).

Exploring Vintage lenses
My first vintage lens, recently arrived from Ukraine. This is a 1976 Helios 44mm f2 M-style screw mount (I recently overestimated its age, sorry). Verified not to be radioactive. Amazing how cheap these things are on eBay, but still perfectly serviceable with the right (cheap) adapter. Loving the slightly soft focus, if I can nail it. Some neighborhood shots of Magno
I would really like to see Jeff try bcachefs with this monster. A lot of hurdles for ZFS there due to the licensing.
Having said that, I don't think bcachefs can fare much better than ZFS on that kind of testing: large sequential IO.

A summary of some ways Bluesky differs from Mastodon:
A focus on the global conversation
Which is to say, manipulating the things you are shown such that you are broadcast to from megastars rather than talking to a community.
Your Mastodon server is part of your username, and becomes part of your identity.
I am not a handle! I am a free man! I guess that means on Bluesky you're stuck with the one identity and can't transition into a new identity 😆
breaking news, viral posts, and algorithmic feeds
Ugh.
Composable moderation.
Which is to say hiding the nazis instead of deleting them. Putting up a veil instead of addressing a problem.
Composable feeds:... there are currently over 40,000 algorithmic feeds to choose from!
It's just like TV!
Your Mastodon timeline is only made up of posts from accounts you follow
Damn right.
Moving hosting services should be like changing your cell phone provider — you should be able to keep your identity and data.
I'm leaning more towards auto-delete after a month lately, but that still hasn't quite overcome my inner archivist.
Losing an account when a server went down is indeed a good chunk of why I started a server.
Just in case anyone should want such a thing, there is now an #RSS feed for my tech blog...
