It's really encouraging to see that Freexian lets its employees spend 20% of their time working on any kind of Debian work they like, and another 10% on some agreed Debian goals.
This on top of the sort-of-crowd-funded LTS work that everyone gets to benefit from.

Konami just put out a HD collection for one of my favorite games ever, Felix the Cat, for Switch and PlayStation (it's among several for a blog post I almost have done on video games I'm obsessed with).
The new collection includes both the NES and Game Boy versions & allows for saving and rewinding at any time (maybe I'll finally beat it! 🤣)
This'll eventually be a must-grab for me, but I gotta wait for a sale on this one.

The cover and logo for Felix the Cat HD collection for Switch. Felix coming out of his magic bag and some of the games' enemies and Felix' girlfriend you're trying to save.
One of the levels in Felix. Felix is jumping with bag and hat. Green and blue elements.
One of the levels in Felix. Darker blue, Felix is in a mini tank.
One of the levels in Felix. Red background with blue and green ground. Felix standing, holding his magic bag.

A summary of some ways Bluesky differs from Mastodon:
A focus on the global conversation
Which is to say, manipulating the things you are shown such that you are broadcast to from megastars rather than talking to a community.
Your Mastodon server is part of your username, and becomes part of your identity.
I am not a handle! I am a free man! I guess that means on Bluesky you're stuck with the one identity and can't transition into a new identity 😆
breaking news, viral posts, and algorithmic feeds
Ugh.
Composable moderation.
Which is to say hiding the nazis instead of deleting them. Putting up a veil instead of addressing a problem.
Composable feeds:... there are currently over 40,000 algorithmic feeds to choose from!
It's just like TV!
Your Mastodon timeline is only made up of posts from accounts you follow
Damn right.
Moving hosting services should be like changing your cell phone provider — you should be able to keep your identity and data.
I'm leaning more towards auto-delete after a month lately, but that still hasn't quite overcome my inner archivist.
Losing an account when a server went down is indeed a good chunk of why I started a server.

This spot was a perfect opportunity to apply ND Filters and some longexposure. I loved …

This image captures a serene winter landscape, dominated by a gently flowing river that meanders through a tranquil forest setting. The trees, heavily laden with snow, stand as silent sentinels along the riverbanks, adding a sense of peaceful solitude to the scene. The entire tableau is shrouded in a soft, ethereal fog, which lends an almost mystical quality to the landscape. The photograph is presented in black and white, which emphasizes the stark contrasts between the snow-covered areas and …

As someone who’s doing some minor consulting on the side, it occurred to me that 90% of my advice contains links to my own blog and I’m increasingly sabotaging my future income. Going 410 considered good business. 🤪

Two weeks ago I released Polish translation of @…'s Meta in Myanmar series.
Today I wrote a blog post elaborating on my process, targeted both at people whose content I have translated so far (5 people more to come probably?) as well as other people who have thought of doing the same.
CW: Swearing in two languages.
Enjoy a lot of text I guess?

New blog post or something.
Yesterday's evening was particularly rough. So I randomly started writing about random boring things. Like come on, look at that title.
Out of a sudden I wrote something that brought a tear to my own eye.
And I'm not gonna lie. I felt SOOO MUCH better once I got to the end.
