that it’s not ’wrong’ for an alcoholic homeless person
to take your change you tossed and spend it on alcohol.
People were livid lol.
It really changed my perspective on giving.

I once taught a whole lesson on the narratives of deservedness in the very strange concept of “stealing” books from something conspicuously branded as a “free” little library. Another loft pottery find; the back says 'Hand painted', 'Made in Japan' but nothing else; as far as I can find out there were a bunch of Japanese studios doing imagined desert scenes from 1920-1950s. I can't find an exact match, but there are loads of similar ones depending on the painters mood I guess.

When a terrible idea comes from on high, there’s always pushback from the folks on the ground who actually understand how things work: the engineers at the computers, the teachers in the classrooms, the facilities crews, the kitchen staff, whatever.
