The family we bought this house from, the dad had set up the conservatory as his man cave. It had a TV, Playstation, beer fridge and, very unusually for a British house, he'd installed a through-wall AC unit.
"We'll never be using that" we said, after turning the conservatory back into a conservatory. And indeed in the 11-odd years we've lived here, we've hardly ever put it on.
But today we have flung open the doors between the conservatory and the living room and while it may not be gloriously cool in here, it's a good 4 or 5 degrees less than the rest of the house. Which is a win in my book.
I expect it's not the last time we'll be doing that this week either.
