Finished "Moon of the Crusted Snow" by Waubgeshig Rice.
As winter approaches, an Anishinaabe reservation in Northern Ontario loses contact with the outside world when a blackout takes down power, internet, and eventually hope for resupply. They slowly begin to realize the blackout is much more widespread and that they're on their own. That is, until some outsiders begin to trickle in.
Sparsely written and beautifully bleak.

Imagine telling a YTP creator in 2007 that govts around the would institute industrial-scale copyright theft via corporate interest in GenAI and would have that (at least from the outsiders POV) FUNDED BY GOVERNMENTS
I'd have gone postal.

My city is being invaded by outsiders.
They weren’t invited, and they’re not wanted. They don’t share our culture, and they don’t share our values. They took billions of dollars from us. They are violent criminals. They are ruining our community.
I’m talking about ICE.
They should go back where they came from.

“When society’s values are corrupted, it is the duty of the individual to uphold true morality.”
