I’ve only known this gate to be in ruins, and I have always loved the Ozymandias vibe. But it wasn’t always so.
It’s one of my favorite spots in the Outer Banks.

A weathered wooden gate stands between two brick columns, leading to a view of a calm body of water. Surrounding the gate are lush green plants and a clear blue sky.
The image shows two crumbling brick columns on a sandy shore, with a view of a body of water and a cloudy sky. The remnants of wooden posts are visible in the water, indicating the outline of a structure. A sparse tree branches overhead.
