We won a parent award tonight. That award being the "you guys are so boring" award - from the teen who wanted to go back out at like 9pm to trick-or-treat and look at more costumes.

We've been fired from trick or treat. Neither of the kids were gentle about it either. So now we get to dole out candy while feeling nostalgic watching kids go door-to-door with their parents.

On the one hand a laudable aim to reduce obesity, on the other a system that has just permitted a burger chain and a pizza chain to set up in our town, and may well be permitting a second burger chain to set up. Any ideas or plans to improve the nation's diet are definitely 'doomed to fail' when this type of non-food is normalised and brought to people's doorsteps, quite literally.
