On fourteen equidistribution conjectures of Lv and Zhang and monotone mesh patterns with corner shadings
Three complementation-like involutions are constructed on permutations to prove, and in some cases generalize, all remaining fourteen joint symmetric equidistribution conjectures of Lv and Zhang. Further enumerative results are obtained for several classes of (mesh) pattern-avoiding permutations, where the shadings of all involved mesh patterns are restricted to an opposing pair of corners.

We investigate the use of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Decomposition-LSTM (DLSTM) networks, combined with an ensemble algorithm, to predict solar flare occurrences using time-series data from the GOES catalog. The dataset spans from 2003 to 2023 and includes 151,071 flare events. We bound the number of permutations with a fixed number $r$ of $321$ patterns by a constant times the number of permutations which avoid $321$. We use this to show that the ordinary generating function for permutations with $r$ copies of $321$ patterns is not rational.
