Just heard that NSF panels now cannot have anyone on panel from the same institution as any of the PI's. This is going to make assembling panels really challenging going forward. Folks with these conflicts used to be able to serve, but step out when a proposal from their institution was discussed.

Oooooh, my university is trying to force me to run Microsoft Authenticator on my private devices (given the US CLOUD Act, possibly spyware) to access my UK uni resources. Not against MFA but very against that sort of assumption of right to use my private hardware invasively. So I am stirring the sh*t with my uni, will start a formal grievance procedure, etc, etc. Note that I don't even run the app store on my phone...

By expanding the system view and looking at the results of the entire system it is often possible to find improvements that are not possible by only looking at “your” system. These changes can sometimes be more challenging to accomplish as they may require convincing others to make changes...
