so far, so amazingly good. the Dell 5290 has a close keyboard but with a nice haptic response and despite less RAM and similar bogomips to my old ZaReason, everything media has been smooth as glass in #Debian13 - never thought I would say so, but if you are new to pondering Linux for that machine that can't do Win11, for everyday use or science lab stuff unfettered by clouds, I wouldn't go near Ubuntu, you'll be just fine in Debian.

Weather forecast yesterday: it's going to be raining all over the south of Poland.
Me: okay, I'm going to Zgorzelec, rain won't be a big hurdle there.
Forecast in the morning: heavy rain in Zgorzelec, little rain in Międzylesie.
Me: I'll go there then.
Reality: no rain for a long while, even a bit of sunshine. When I'm a kilometer distant from the train station, wind starts blowing hard. Leaves start hitting me, surprisingly hard. A few seconds later I realize it's hail. The streets run with water. And half an hour later, it becomes sunny.

Got an email from the US DOJ. I initially clocked it as spam, but no, it's the real deal:
I donated to some charity drive years ago, the guy who ran the charity pled guilty to embezzling $2.5MM, and as a result I have been identified by the DOJ as a ***VICTIM***. Wild shit!
