I didn't realize so many Quick Build projects were failing this badly to reduce injury crashes. On some of these streets I *feel* safer since the changes, but the numbers don't lie. These are failures and SF must reevaluate its whole approach. Concrete > flex posts

Two charts of injuries per year on 17 corridors in the Tenderloin, and on South Van Ness Avenue, before and after Quick Build projects in fall 2021 and January 2022. Despite the projects, injury crashes increased in the Tenderloin in 2022 and 2023, and fell only slightly on South Van Ness.

Only $42k to remodel an office into a small apartment is amazing. Give these housing heroes vacant offices in downtown SF and just look the other way.

I guess LA is about to have more Slow Streets than SF
Their neighborhood enhanced network (now mandated by HLA) would target <1500 vehicles/day with 85th percentile speed <20mph, close to the Slow Street definition

Map C1: Neighborhood Enhanced Network

A map of Los Angeles city with a fairly dense connected network of streets highlighted in light blue that are part of the network.

"'There’s these huge communities of people fleeing violence, persecution, gangs, all these things, trying to survive and we’re basically telling them, "Sleep on the streets,"' said Supervisor Hillary Ronen."

In Oakland I came across this actually protected bike lane with concrete, not just a flexpost to cosplay protection. Hope this advanced technology becomes available west of the Bay someday. #bikeSF

Aaron Peskin must really not be running for mayor, because if he were this would doom his campaign. Gonna look snobbish and obstructionist to anyone not a homeowner in those specific neighborhoods.
