This show is always very educational, especially for people that still hasn't understood the true nature of the nazi regime in #russia
This is broadcast in a country where every media outled that displeased the dictator has been shut down.

Update on the Steam Machine knock-off: like I was saying earlier, there are some sharp edges on going down your own path building your own. The latest sharp bit is resuming from sleep which I'd argue is pretty critical for any "set top box". Can you wake it up from sleep via the controller and jump back into gaming?
Right now for my build, the answer is *yes. Unfortunately, that yes has the caveat of "and when it comes back from sleep you will be presented with th…
Trying to narrow down summer holiday options. Family travel by train to a self catering holiday destination where swimming, cycling hiking and climbing is possible (as is sitting by the water with a pile of books) lots of fresh air and nature a must. Cities less important. What would you choose (feel free to comment why and be more specific on destination!):
The fact Instagram and all other social networks now have some AI slop feature that allows you to generate captions or whole posts with AI, but NO FEATURE TO GENERATE IMAGE DESCRIPTION / ALT TEXT should tell you all you need to know next time one of these ghouls pretends their new technology will really help disabled or marginalized people (this time for sure)
Libraries Not Doing Pride Displays Say They ‘Shouldn’t Be Judged’ https://www.404media.co/libraries-not-doing-pride-displays-say-they-shouldnt-be-judged/
Apropos a separate great thread involving nonviolent resistance/protest: nonviolent protest certainly benefits from and perhaps even requires the threat is something more, but it's not at simple as just a display of resolve making clear the threat of more action of change doesn't happen. It's also a form of psychological warfare against your opponent's complicity chains: the set of people that need to go along in small ways for the oppressor's threat of force to actually materialize, and the set of people who support them, and so on. These days lots of those complicity chains are heavily reinforced against psychological attack, for example by convincing them that those resisting are a threat, or are subhuman, or deserve oppression because they have transgressed, or otherwise damping the empathy channel through which nonviolent resistance seeks to create psychological distress, the actions to avoid which are one goal of the tactic. Censorship of news about resistance is another popular strategy in places like Iran and China. These counter-tactics are imperfect and costly, hence the continued effectiveness of nonviolent resistance as a tactic, even if alone it's not going to truly solve problems.
In the other thread I mentioned someone commented from personal experience that nonviolent resistance had died down once an immediate change was effected, even though that change didn't remove the threat they personally were facing. That's one of the weaknesses of the tactic: people on both sides usually move on too quickly.
