A tire fell off a United Airlines flight taking off from SFO to Osaka, Japan Thursday morning, officials confirmed. SKY7 was over a parking lot nearby, where it appears the tire hit and damaged cars.

So about unintended consequences.
My husband just flew home from SFO, and he arrived with an absolutely terrible water bottle.
first, our security theater means we can't bring our own water bottles with water, and the unreliability of services after security means we can't necessarily refill it.
Second, SFO bans plastic water bottles. Good, right?
Except this means that the water bottle he got cost a lot, was made of ALUMINUM, and by most people, flying out of…

Knowing this, you can look at three redeye flights SFO-EWR and pick the one that has the nice cabin. It takes a few clicks since the actual plane (and it’s cabin configuration) is treated as a state secret by most travel sites unfortunately.

I’d noticed some Premium Economy flights are really, really nice with a separate cabin and food service, but most are just Economy with More Inches of Leg Room, which isn’t worth the upcharge imho. Now I know why: When flying from San Francisco to Newark, I was flying a plane configured for International flights. But—only Newark. Chicago, Boston, no, you’re going to have a Bad Time unless you pay two or three times as much for a ticket.

NEW: A United Airlines flight en route to San Francisco from Frankfurt, Germany, was forced to divert due to an overflow from one of the aircraft’s toilets into the passenger compartment.

I’m just back from a trip to California where I was lucky enough to have the often rumoured random car rental mega-upgrade happen to me.
My LHR->SFO flight was 2 hrs late. The rental company (Hertz) couldn’t accept my #ChaseUK card as verification because it has no numbers printed on it, and it was now 11pm and I had a 20 mile drive to do.
