Vinton Cerf, one of the creators of the protocols underlying the internet, will step down as Google's chief internet evangelist next week.

"A review of nascent policy approaches in the UK, California, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, and the EU, indicates a fragmented landscape where most jurisdictions address only parts of the protocol stack and only some of the control layers. [..] The report presents a phased roadmap recommending global harmonisation of functional requirements rather than technology mandates."

The Japanese conglomerate has made bets on other crypto protocols, including the lender Morpho and the blockchain Arc.

SunLink was the product family for all the non-TCP/IP/Ethernet protocols. This was hugely important to get in to accounts who had not yet realized where things were heading.
The 80s was the wild west of protocols. The survivors were open and had communities dedicated to interoperability.

This card was for *synchronous* serial protocols, which you should be thankful don't exist anymore - BiSync, SDLC, HDLC, and upper layers like X.25, SNA, and weird terminal emulation

But you didn't need the SCP card unless you were running multiple links.
The Sun-2, Sun-3, and early Sun-4s could run all those protocols on the CPU serial ports!
Sun-3 could run 56Kb WAN links all day without breaking a sweat.
