Anyone have a soldering iron recommendation (type/make/model)?
My needs are •small•: occasional minor repair, mostly wire-to-wire soldering, maybe some super-basic PCB stuff in the distant future if I get ambitious. Simple foolproof is better than robust precise.
Whole lot of options out there, and hard to tell which ones are overkill for my needs.
UPDATE: Going with the Pinecil (multiple recommendations, looks right-sized for my needs), and also noting the many Hakko recommendations for more robust needs. Thanks, everyone!
Of all the many crimes against the English language committed by people from the USA, I think the only one which I'd make a capital offence is that of refusing to pronounce the "L" in "soldering".
My Convoy S12 UV light stopped working. I contacted Simon and he sent me a new driver. I had some issues opening the metal ring that holds the driver because I don't have the right tool. Soldering was tricky because of the short wires and I didn't take into account how it should be placed. But it works again. I'm happy.
Is there a name for the trend in Millennials and Gen Z to mispronounce things because they don't talk to human beings often enough?
Like the Corridor Crew on YouTube, alleged experts in computer graphics, not knowing how to pronounce "Gaussian".
Or the number of young makers who pronounce the "L" in soldering (and are not British).
My strong suspicion is that they learned these words without talking to human beings, and then mispronounced them to eac…
I wanna make some cool hardware stuff but idk what to make aaaaaaa ;-;
Ideally it should be something useful or really really cool
I have two old Arduino Unos at home, but I’d be open about getting some pipicos or esp32 or something.
Extra points if it requires some soldering to put my iron to good use :3
(tho while ordering custom PCBs is cool (feel free to send cool stuff that use them), getting them shipped here is quite expensive I think)
Any recommendations?
Bought a couple breadboard power supplies from Canaduino awhile back. Noticed one on a friends bench and after examining it decided I needed one too. Better than the ones with linear chips. If this fails it just stops working does not send whatever source voltage was to your project. Took awhile to get. They used a shipper called Sendle to ship it from Canada to the U.S.
Anyway I looked around and ordered one of these to to send to the niece.
