So I did an ACES workflow speedrun in After Effects over the past few days, banging into a bunch of issues, and I think I came out the other side with a greater understanding of the process. Having messed with LUTS and Cineon DPX sequences in the past, this is an improvement.
It very much helped when I got vfx delivery specs that also mentioned the source media colorspace and then suddenly I could make more informed decisions about transforms and things started looking right.
