I used the #PrincessLamplighter for a trip to the grocery store, which I recorded on #Strava or … actually I should say that I tried to record it. The recording failed, thus it is not on Strava and as all Strava users know, that means it never actually happened and so my family wi…

«Komoot is neither a moral failure nor an outlier but the capitalist system of value extraction working exactly as intended for the platform owners. Whether they’re called Komoot, Strava, AllTrails, or Garmin, for-profit corporations squeeze and sell us out when we give them the opportunity. […] capturing communities with false promises only to sell us out is business as usual in the corporate internet.»
It's why we need community-governed and -owned infrastructure.

Maybe it's time for security forces to understand that information security is a) also important and b) easily compromised. The Strava vulnerability is a known issue - I saw news articles about that a few years ago. But surely by now the security world should know that any app that shares information on an unsecure system is a risk?
And I wonder what a review of how this is playing out in the US would show. Inquiring minds, and all that.

B.C. cyclist's clever Strava drawings:
"Perfect intersection' of art, fitness and road rash
When B.C.'s Janine Strong got into road cycling in 2019, she had no idea it would lead her down the path of Strava art: the creation of massive GPS-tracked sketches around the world."

The image is a map of the Vancouver area, highlighting a route that resembles the shape of a crocodile. The route is outlined in orange and starts in Richmond, moving northward through Vancouver, then eastward through Burnaby, and finally southward through Surrey. The map includes several cities and geographical features, such as Burrard Inlet, the Fraser River, and Boundary Bay Wildlife. The crocodile-shaped route is prominently displayed, with its head in Richmond, its body through Vancouver,…

Me (to myself): Get in to work early this morning, with no messing about on the way in. Just 'a to b', fast and efficient!
Also me: [Leaves very late, grabs a unicycle and proceeds to cycling in via the following route]

Map of Olso with a route marked out in pride colours. It goes a long round about way, rather than direct from a to b.
A green flieger style watch, on a hairy arm with the time shown as 9:57:55. Next to the watch is a pride armband. Below the arm you can see a persons leg and the wheel of a unicycle.
A view looking down at Karl Johan's gate in Oslo, taken from near The Royal Palace. It is a long straight road with lots of trees on either side. There are gloomy clouds overhead.

Browsing the Radiaverse.com map (like Pokemon Go meets Strava - but for sources of radiation) and am curious what was happening at Green Park Station in May.

Since I did not get to take part in the Oslo Enhjulssykkelrunde (Unicycle Tour of Oslo) this year (I was busy with the kids), I decided to do my own little varient of it as part of my commute on the way into work today.
Distance 23.91km [14.86 miles], moving time 1h36m, 175m [574ft] elevation gain, average speed 14.9km/h [9.3mph]
FWIW, I actually only live about 5km [3.1 miles] from my office 🤷 😆
