Good Morning #Canada
It's National Crush a Can Day, a day intended to raise awareness about recycling. Recent studies estimate that each Canadian generates 673 kg of waste annually. That puts Canada in 8th place in the world of waste generated. Despite blue bin programs only 9% of this waste is recycled, the rest ending up in landfills.

Our Autumn Crocus have finally bloomed. These bulbs were a gift from a friend's garden and I think they are called Pink Snow. This is their 1st year in this location, at the base of a young Sugar Maple tree planted last summer. Lots of room for them to spread.

Pink coloured Autumn Crocus, approximately 25 plants, are blooming around the base of a young Sugar Maple tree.

The developers who bought greenbelt land shouldn't be expecting any compensation. I mean they were just buying farmland and hoping it would somehow be removed from greenbelt protection. Pretty sure nothing was discussed with the government before land was purchased and there was no shady backroom deals. You win some and you lose some....

Good Morning #Canada
Did you know that more than 25% of the pingos on the planet are in Canada, including the 2nd tallest pingo in the world? Approximately 1,350 pingos reside in Canada and Pingo Canadian Landmark is a natural area protecting eight pingos near Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories. Apparently this park is a popular tourist attraction for something I didn't know existed before I…

Preparing the veggie garden for the winter:
- final harvest of a few carrots, plus a single pepper that avoided capture last week.
- a good tilling with the rototiller.
- add in the remainder of my composted horse manure (6 wheelbarrows full).
- final tilling and raking smooth.
Last 2 steps yet to be completed:
- plant 100 bulbs of garlic in 2 weeks.
- add a topping of shredded leaves in early November.

A basket with the final harvest of the year which includes 7 carrots and 1 lonely pepper.
Our vegetable garden, 15 feet wide and 24 feet long, has been emptied of all plants and then run over with a rototiller.
The vegetable garden with 6 wheelbarrows of composted horse manure dumped and spread across the surface.
The vegetable garden with the horse manure mixed in, a couple final passes with the rototiller, and smoothed out with a rake.

Wife put together her Winter/Christmas decoration outside. A bit early but the weather is unseasonably warm and is pulling us outdoors. She used a few decorations purchased on sale years ago and all of the green stuff is from shrubs or trees in our yard, or collected from nearby hiking trails. Casper supervised part of the installation.

A large window planter, 3 feet wide, outside our front hallway window is decorated for Christmas. A large striped bow is on the middle front and various evergreen and dogwood branches are arranged to fill the basket. Casper the all white cat is in the window supervising the work.
A large free standing planter, almost 5 feet high including the decorative material, features various evergreen branches, white birch branches, dogwood and grass feathers.
