Hexara (PC) Hey so if you're old enough to have any kind of fond memories of the game Hexic on the 360, this is basically an exact clone of it available on Steam. It's got the same exact gameplay without straight up stealing the assets. Also the dev responded to my (and another) review mentioning repetitive music by patching in more tracks of chillout tunes, bonus. Was an easy 1st day buy, and cheap. In Mad Max - Fury Road they play electric battle guitars during the grand chase and I think the idea that they might instead use genAI to churn out half-baked attack mathcore is preposterous. It would neither have style nor would they have the excess resources to power such an abomination.

Abstract: When a sphere crosses an air-water interface it can entrain a significant volume of air, a process relevant to numerous naval, industrial, and environmental settings. While air entrainment through sphere impact onto quiescent baths has been extensively studied, real-world interfaces are inherently unsteady, and the influence of surface waves is less understood. In this Letter, we systematically investigate the effect of interfacial geometry on the air entrained by impacting hydrophobic spheres onto an axisymmetric wavefield. By analyzing the resulting cavity across a wide parameter space, including wave phase, driving amplitude, and frequency, we reveal that local interface deformation dramatically alters air entrainment. This effect is driven by a geometric modulation of the splash curtain, which shifts the transition between cavity closure modes. We demonstrate that the influence of the waves is fully described by the local wave slope at the radius of the sphere, which alongside the Weber number We and Bond number Bo, establishes a foundational parametric framework for predicting air entrainment and cavity metrics across highly dynamic, real-world surfaces like the open ocean.

Prometheus,
the physical AI startup co-founded by Jeff Bezos and Vik Bajaj, the former co-founder of Verily, Google’s life sciences unit,
announced it raised $12 billion at a $41 billion valuation.

In my ward the greens seem to have got about a third of the vote vs Labour with the rest. 2:1
Which is a big improvement. 300 or so neighbors to turn.
In the borough we've gone from unanimous Labor to about a third Green. Which is oddly proportional to my ward. Not really sure I understand the actual counting system with the three votes I had or if it's PR or not.
Nationally its awful for Labour but also worse for the country since outside London they lost mostly to the Reform (nee Brexit) party/private-company.
Conservatives seem irrelevant, even Lib Dems more important.
I've been casting doubt upon the idea of an imminent Reform government, saying it'd be unprecedented for Reform to go from one ever elected MP to 400 MPs in a single election. But these elections feel pretty close to that kind of swing.
Starmer says he'll stay on. He has no concept of what government should do other than give tax breaks to businesses to try to get economic growth, and crack down in authoritarian ways with increased surveillance and ID checks and prosecuting protestors.
He doesn't seem to realize that government can just do things, especially after Brexit. It can just pay people to build infrastructure owned by and giving profit to the state. It does not need private investment. Isn't that supposed to be the point of a Labour party?
So things will continue to get worse and Labour will continue to chase Reform policies (and so validate them). So Reform may well win.
There is one hope. Burnham could resign as mayor, a safe-seat MP could resign, and Burnham stands there. Assuming he wins he could then stand for leadership. And then if he wins and then actually does something despite the protest of the right wing of his own party, maybe things could get better.
That's a lot of conditionals. You'd want good odds to place a bet on that.
Or the greens of course. These elections have seen hundreds of new green councilors. The momentum is good. Probably take the council here next time unless that Burnham things happens.
So good for Greens, but better for Reform, and we could do with a Labour party which wasn't failing.
Oh well. Fingers crossed I guess. Few more years till the national ones.

Content warning: "Pushing Ice" by Alastair Reynolds
Read "Pushing Ice" by Alastair Reynolds which is a sci-fi novel about the crew of an ice-mining ship which usually pushes comets around to harvest their snow.
In fact there's almost no actual pushing of ice in the novel though because the crew are immediately distracted by the strange behaviour of one of Saturn's moons, Janus, which turns out to have been an alien artefact all along.
Being closest, they chase it out of the solar system and onto the relativistic time-dilated future of the galaxy.
Alastair Reynolds writes long. Seems to go on forever. Been reading it for months. And yet when you reach the end you still want to know what happened to 'em all next.
Interesting hook of how by timing your relativistic journey's speed properly you can take civilisations from all around the history of the galaxy and put them all in one structure at the end. Gives a nice way to have aliens interacting with each other even which each evolved in a pretty much otherwise empty galaxy.
The politics and factionalism of both the humans aboard Janus and inside and between the other alien species is explored well. Betrayals and manipulations and hiding of truths going on and being justified by everyone.
Felt like the prologue was all a bit spoilery really. Might have been a more surprising story without letting us know in chapter zero what kind of thing to expect, making the path of the captain predestined.
Good stuff though. Nice long space opera.
