That's how our hike at the #mummelsee started ... and how it was when we were up there. - But the walk was quite okay.
We checked the rain radar and decided to go back down rather quickly. We leveraged our rain gear and it did not disappoint us! 🙂
So we didn't see the area atop - the so called

Perched atop a densely forested hillside, a quaint observation tower and building overlook a tranquil scene. The lush, evergreen forest—rich with deep greens and hints of lighter foliage—cascades down toward a calm, reflective lake below. The sky above is overcast, casting a soft, diffused light that mutes the colors into soothing tones, creating an atmosphere of quiet serenity.

The structure at the summit, partially obscured by the treetops, suggests a rewarding destination for hikers seeking…
A quiet, winding trail meanders through a lush forest, inviting exploration into its verdant depths. Towering trees, their trunks a mix of muted browns and grays, stretch upward to form a dense canopy overhead, filtering the soft, diffused light that gently illuminates the path. The forest floor is a tapestry of earthy tones, with scattered stones and roots peeking through a bed of pine needles and fallen leaves.

To the right, a rocky slope is adorned with vibrant green moss and delicate ferns…
Shrouded in a veil of soft, misty gray, a solitary stone tower rises from the foggy highlands, its rugged silhouette blending seamlessly with the muted tones of the overcast sky. The tower, sturdy and timeless, is accompanied by a quaint building with a green-tinged roof, its wooden bench inviting weary hikers to rest. The gravel path leading to the structure hints at countless journeys taken, each step a story of adventure and exploration.

The atmosphere is one of quiet mystery and contemplat…
A misty veil of soft gray clouds lingers over this tranquil mountain lake, creating an air of quiet mystery. The dense forest, a lush tapestry of evergreen pines and scattered deciduous shrubs, frames the still waters below. Vibrant green foliage contrasts subtly with the muted tones of weathered rocks in the foreground, adding texture to the scene.

The lake itself rests peacefully, its surface barely disturbed, reflecting the muted light filtering through the overcast sky. A faint outline of …

I took my daughter to buy a car today. The dealership could not run credit report due to AWS outage. She called the bank, they could not approve a large transaction because of the AWS outage. We went to the DMV, they were able to get her a replacement car title, but also mentioned some systems were down. Back to the dealership where they could not do the credit application to buy the car.
In a completely unrelated note, I think I have some ideas for disrupting Capitalism...

The great thing about working at home is that I don’t need any form of timer to remind me to take breaks. Neville does the job so much better. Not pomodoro — dogadoro ftw!

Neville, the charcoal grey labradoodle, seated up. His left paw is on the knee of yours truly (the only part of me visible) while his right paw is on the arm rest of the chair. He is looking up, wondering why the hand that was, until just now, petting him is doing so no more. Behind him are book cases filled with science fiction.

Absolutely, sex trafficking is a real issue. But this case brings to mind the days of Satanic Panic and mindless overreaction to harmless situations.

Commemorative map of the Jefferson Highway routes in 1916 and 1929, as seen at the Hubbard County Historical Society in Park Rapids, #Minnesota. Park Rapids is one of the towns along the route.

Road map showing the central part of the US and a small part of Manitoba. It's labeled Jefferson Highway (Pine to Palm Highway). The legend shows 1916 and 1929 routes.
Also a sign, JEFFERSON HIGHWAY, NEW ORLEANS - WINNIPEG, with representations of palm and pine trees.

Cleaning out my garage after our move prompted this morning's post. I have a milk crate full of stones that, when assembled, creates a small Inukshuk. It was originally built by my teenage daughters, from rocks they collected, some 25 years ago and has now traveled to it's 3rd home. I think his name is Tomrak, but I'll have to confirm that. I apologized to the movers about having to haul the rocks on their truck, but they assured me they've moved much stranger stuff.
I think I have a new location for Tomrak out front, and I'll post an update when he's settled.
Edited - added photo.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my regular checkup.
Coincidentally my doctor noticed my ears were extra waxy, they always are.
So, much to my embarrassment, I got them professionally cleaned. And I cannot overstate this: I am hearing things I have *no* recollection of ever being able to hear.
When I got in the car to go home, I immediately had to turn the music down by like 70% because at my normal level, it was unbearably loud.

Democrats thought they could ride out the first Trump administration like it was any other Republican administration.
Events since should have disabused them of the possibility of doing it a second time
—as if January 6 did not happen,
as if the people who tried to destroy our government would not come back and be serious about finishing the job,
as if they actually hadn’t written it all down in a manifesto and published it.
The result is that, as In These Times…
