Photo of the upper part of a glacial valley with large mountain peaks (some 3700+ meters) and remaining glaciers and icefields. The vivid colors are purely the result of the polarization filter used, but also nicely show the variety of rock types and minerals (rock colors vary from pale gray to orange, deep rust, black). Close up view (from a few hundred meters above) of the Langtauferer glacier gate and a beautiful river delta of the milky blueish-gray creek of another glacier (next image) which terminates higher up by now. The ice is characteristically blue, heavily crevassed and crumbling at the front. A word about scale: One of the larger detached ice fragments is ~2.5 meters tall.

In this article we present a framework for direct data-driven control for general problems involving interconnections of dynamical systems. We first develop a method to determine the solution of a Sylvester equation from data. Such solution is used to describe a subspace that plays a role in a large variety of problems. Nonrational varieties with unirational parametrizations of coprime degrees
We show that there exists a $2$-dimensional family of smooth cubic threefolds admitting unirational parametrizations of coprime degrees. This together with Clemens--Griffiths' work solves the long standing open problem whether there exists a nonrational variety with unirational parametrizations of coprime degrees. Our proof uses a new approach, called the Noether--Cremona method, for determining the rationality of quotients of hypersurfaces.

Lässt man ein Gerät wegen auslaufender OS-Lizenz vom Hersteller aktualisieren, würde man selbstverständlich doch erwarten, dass auch die Herstellersoftware mit aktualisiert wird (oder?).
Ok, im Gespräch kam heraus, dass er das nicht vorhatte. Klassiker mit "Never touch a running system" (naturgemäß kann aber nicht beantwortet werden, ob gemeldete Bugs denn raus wären).
Und im Ergebnis wurde es auch nicht mehr gemacht. Och...
