It's the Day of Hermes aka Mercurius Day aka #Wednesday! 🐏
"When Mercurius first made the lyre on Mount Cyllene . . . Apollo took the lyre, and is said to have taught Orpheus on it, and after he himself had invented the cithara, he gave the lyre to Orpheus."
Pseudo-Hyginus, Astronomica 2.7

Amazon's CTO, Dr. Werner Vogels, recently shared this short post about how software development improves with age. His perspective revolves around the recurrence of certain patterns in technology where the experienced developer can say "New technology, same pattern.", and sift through the daily onslaught of new technologies in a calm fashion, weeding out what's just flash from more interesting developments.
"Development gets better with Age"
When the sun goes nova
And the world turns ova,
You don't wanna be alone
So honey, come on home.
When you're in a valley
And the dam breaks, pally,
You don't wanna be alone,
So honey, come on home.
If you're on the bum –
And the policemen come –
If you lose your grip –
Or your trousers rip!
I'll be waiting, dear ....
[Bruce Cockburn, 1973]
Last night my friend Moonie got married to my other friend Andrew. Moonie also invited all the members of the band they play in to the wedding, and then Moonie and the band performed a few songs. Moonie playing their own wedding was just fucking awesome.
