Daily Inspiration: "Have you ever thought that perhaps you have been looking in the wrong direction, at the wrong time, at the wrong threat?" - Futurist Jim Carroll
The story that unfolds today involves my 2004 book, "What I Learned from Frogs in Texas," and it's pretty exciting - at least for me. That's because today I am in the exact location where this business parable involving the frogs unfolded - The Woodlands Resort in Houston!
It's kind of …

Two of the worst things about caretaking for me are:
1. I suspect I am on the Autism spectrum, and I have hyper-empathy. That means my brain constantly simulates the suffering that the person I’m caring for goes through, and adds it to the stress that I’m already experiencing. The after-effects of hyper-empathy can bounce around in my brain for literal days before I recover.
2. It’s almost impossible for me to plan ahead. Because of unplanned caretaking obligations, it’s impossib…

Takeaways from the Supreme Court’s ruling on Trump and 14th Amendment

By not weighing in on whether Trump engaged in insurrection, that remains open to interpretation
— and specifically, Congress’s.
What if Trump won in November, for instance, but Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress and moved to disqualify him?

The ruling also creates some tension with other writings of the court, in which it found that other Reconstruction-era amendments
— one of …

In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
He was inspired to write it on May 3, 1915, after presiding over the funeral of friend and fellow soldier Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, who died in the Second Battle of Ypres

Just as any organization should know when it has fulfilled its purpose and should disband the same applies to hosting, especially you for example hosting something for yourself or others: What's your exit strategy? How can you or the people you host for migrate away from your platform? Should you no longer want to do the work how do you manage the migration of people away from your service?

⚮⚮⚮The Return of the Heaters!
⚮⚮⚮Excellent start for the church class last night on The Lemon Tree by Sandy Toland, aka The Middle East 101. (They're using the Young Adult version because the regular version has too much gore.)
⚮⚮⚮Excellent Mexican last night too. Prawns so good...

Both the aroma and the infusion deliver the stimulating acidic effect that engages the edges of the palate.

The derailment occurred when an eastbound train struck another eastbound train stopped on the same track.
An oncoming westbound train then collided with the wreckage that had careened onto the adjacent track.
Multiple cars left the track and were strewn across the southern bank of the river.
Parts of locomotives could be seen in or immediately adjacent to the river.
An unknown quantity of diesel fuel spilled into the river, and responders set up absorbent booms to col…

I teach democracy at Princeton. Student protesters are getting an education like no other
Teaching an undergraduate class on democracy at Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs this semester has felt urgent and clarifying.
In the classroom, we’ve been looking at backsliding and the slow corrosion of democratic norms in so-called democratic countries.
Meanwhile, what’s been happening outside the classroom in more than 120 universities around the…

Nikki Haley had an eye-popping month of fundraising in January, hauling in almost as much cash as the prior three months combined.
The Haley campaign has the money to keep her long-shot presidential bid alive, even as many leaders in her party have called for the GOP primary to come to an end.
Haley raised $16.5 million in January, including $11.7 million from grassroots supporters, according to her campaign.
The campaign also added 69,274 new donors last month.
