2024's book number 10 is a short but informative read on #Nefertiti and her famous portrait bust. (Another librarian win).
What I mostly took away, apart from a nice introduction to Amarna and Akhenaten is that the alleged "science" of Egyptology appears to be mostly based on supposition, guess work and prejudice with rather thin, occasional often contradictory evidence. …

So I noticed that some bots(?) have been adding foreign language info to my Wikidata entry. Neat!
Except that some of these seem to be incorrect. Most of the non-English ones list "researcher" (which, sure I guess?), but both the Mongolia and Dutch are translated by Google Translate as "scientist."
Anyone know what's up with this? Mistranslation? Error? Is Google Translate wrong? Is this showing up in anyone else's Wikidata pages?

A local librarian showed me a library webpage that had a scad of research materials that members can use. I looked at a bunch before finding #NewsBank, which, when I typed in the journalist's name, gave me a list of 235 articles.
"Great! This will be a great starting point for finding the articles!" and when I tried to download the list, you'll never guess what it gave me.…

Using #KentCountyCouncil #Library online "chat with a Librarian" function I am pleasingly warmed by finding that they share the load out with an "external librarian from the US who is helping answer this library's questions while the local librarians are out"
Sharing resources with entirely separate organisations in other countries is one of the more suprising and progressive acts I've noticed public libraries doing. It's amazing.
