Discussion at parents meeting about mobile phones, screen time and other topics, quite clear that most parents (including me).have no clue what our kids are actually doing on their devices..
Also clear how clueless so many parents are about data privacy, security and online safety.
The black boxification of tech will be our downfall.

Because @…’s Flipboard site won’t scroll for me (?!?), here’s the paragraph with the punch:
❝It’s worth noting that over the decades, Pixar has explored topics such as, but [not*] limited to: becoming a widower, suddenly becoming a single or adoptive parent, environmental collapse, existential dread, motherhood, and job burnout. The first Incredibles has a subplot where Elastigirl thinks Mr. Incredible is having an affair, Toy Story 3 has the toys accept death by furnace, and Elemental is about interracial relationships. The last two movies Docter directed were Soul, which is about a Black man finding joy in his life again, and Inside Out—maybe the most therapy-ass movie (and series) in the studio’s entire 40-year tenure—is about messy preteen emotions that lead to its main character running away from home.❞
* The word “not” is missing in the original, surely an editorial mistake?

Watched a couple of episodes of #DeArktiskeReddere on DR (public broadcaster on Denmark) yesterday (series about #Greenland's search and rescue team - though they do a lot of emergency air ambulance type work too).
It's a really gripping and well filmed piece of work, sensitive on the difficult topics too and shows really well how different authorities work together.
I imagine it would be uncomfortable watching for USians who seem to imagine some kind of stone age society seeing healthcare emergencies dealt with so professionally with such excellent equipment (and for free at point of delivery).
I also find it hard to explain that the categories and separation between "Danes" and "Greenlanders" isn't always so clear cut and I think the programme got that over well.
It's filmed mostly in Danish but with Swedish, Norwegian and quite a bit of English, so may not travel easily but it's a really well done piece of TV and if you are at all interested in Greenland, it's worth seeking out.

One thing I routinely deal with is, someone will ask a question, I start to speak, and just 5 seconds in, I'm already 3 meta questions deep into topics that need to be established before I can get around to talking about why we can't actually answer the original question, but we can put boundaries around it to define what we know and don't know.
And most people just don't want to listen to all that.

Texas Tech Issues Ban On Students Writing On LGBTQ Topics #TexasTech

In one of the most extreme anti-speech policies ever imposed at a public university, Texas Tech issued a ban on LGBQT topics
The policy bars professors from discussing LGBTQ topics in core and lower-level courses
and eliminates entire fields of study across the five-university system.
It even requires that if an industry-standard textbook includes content on sexual orientation or gender identity, instructors must skip over it and avoid discussion around it.

It’s official! Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 is set to premiere in January 2027.
Official Website: #ShangriLaFrontier

The background features a dark blue digital grid pattern. The series logo is displayed at the bottom in Japanese and English.
