MacBook Neo review: premium chassis, vivid display, mechanical touchpad is clickable anywhere, and affordable, but no backlit keyboard and no USB-C port labels (Andrew E. Freedman/Tom's Hardware)

Picking keycodes for my USB foot pedal was harder than I expected; I'd started with 'a' and 'b' for debug, nice and easy; but then thought to bind things to hot keys, F23 and F24 would be easiest; but at least on my machine F23 seems to be bound somewhere to 'Touchpad disable' and F24 doesn't get recognised with a name in the keyboard short cut settings. I've settled on 'Keypad Equals' and 'Execute' (which also seems to be 'Open')…
Having already fried a MacBook Air motherboard today while trying to cross-test another MacBook Air's keyboard/touchpad assembly, I decided that my luck couldn't possibly get any worse, and am now webflashing the 'new' Pixel 8a with GrapheneOS. Thoughts/prayers requested, thx
I had to install Windows 11 on a laptop that was running Arch Linux (don’t ask me why—I’m really pissed off about this), and it was the worst user experience I’ve had in years.
1) The laptop's touchpad didn't work; I had to use a USB mouse.
2) Windows 11 didn't recognize the M.2 drive. Why? No fucking idea. You have to download some drivers (not the typical .exe file, but their .sys, .cat, .info, etc.), insert another USB drive with them, and install them during the W1…
I've decided to open the #DualShock and try cleaning it up.
Took me about an hour to find the right tools and disassemble it, getting to the analog stick potentiometers. Used compressed air (read: lungs) to clean them up. Found a bit of cat hair. Took me about half an hour to figure out how to reassemble it properly, with my back aching already. After reassembly, it turned out that side triggers randomly… well, trigger.
Disassembled it again. Started reassembling while making sure that the mainboard is tightly in place. After putting the battery back in, noticed that I didn't connect the touchpad ribbon. Disassembled again, reassembled. Miraculously, it works.
The analog stick causes no trouble so far, so maybe it won't need replacement for a while still. After all, I'm not using it much.
