Över en halv miljon människor i Gaza är drabbade av den högsta nivån av svält, visar IPC:s nya rapport. Israel kallar rapporten för en lögn. Men läget kan snarare vara ännu värre, enligt Tess Ingram, talesperson för Unicef, som är på plats i Gaza. – Situationen här är så kritisk. Det är svårt att omvandla det i data och ord, säger hon.

Drinkwater in Gaza: Het VN-agentschap benadrukt dat de watercrisis van de ene op de andere dag kan worden opgelost als Israël de aanvoer van brandstof weer toestaat in Gaza. „Geen van deze problemen is logistiek of technisch van aard. Ze zijn politiek. Ontkenning is beleid geworden.”

Lately I've been approached by #UNICEF volunteer. I wanted to help. It turned out the only way to do that was… to sign a "direct debit" form. Of course, I can't imagine giving someone my PII in the middle of a street, and signing authorizations like that. She was particularly insistent too; I managed to get her to tell me that I can get the account number for regular wire from the website.
Well, I understand the logic there. They need repeated donations, not one-time. A lot of people would just forget about it after talking to her. However, if they fill the form there, they will have to actively put an effort to cancel it afterwards. And if I understood her correctly, she suggested you can cancel anytime by calling *them* — so effectively giving them an additional opportunity to convince you not to. Still, I am dismayed by such psychological games.

In der Ukraine sind infolge des Krieges in den drei Monaten seit Anfang März 222 Kinder und Jugendliche getötet oder verletzt worden. Das seien dreimal so viele wie in den drei Monaten davor, teilte das UN-Kinderhilfswerk UNICEF in Genf mit. Es handele sich um überprüfte Daten der UN-Beobachtungsmission für Menschenrechte in der Ukraine.

Była przy tym wyjątkowo natarczywa; udało mi się z niej wyciągnąć co najwyżej, że numer konta do normalnego przelewu mogę znaleźć na …

Nu är dricksvattenförsörjningen nära att haverera i Gaza. UNICEF varnar för att barn snart kan dö av törst.
