Basically, what the US has announced, rather unambiguously, is that the only way its actions can regulated is through superior military might.
This is a very dangerous thing to announce in a world when you are one of approximately 200 countries. Regardless of whether you currently have the most lethal military of not.
Anyone know what happens to that one asshole at a game of Monopoly if the rest of the players decide to team up against him?
Not saying it will happen. But re…

Unimpressed with the Verizon FiOS service in the new house so far.
My highest download this week has been 92.67 Mbps and my highest upload 34.73.
This is _after_ Verizon rebooted the router and said it all be better.

There have been numerous disgustingly fake 'nightscape' composites flooding the web where someone had merely pasted a deep astronomical image of comet C/2026 A6 #Lemmon into some landscape, making it look like it was a giant rivalling Ikeya-Seki oder West - oh, how I hated that. And what a relief that NOIRLab has now posted - noirlab.edu/public/images/iotw - this beautiful and apparently unmanipulated picture of Lemmon over Mauna Kea on 12 November. Yes, it reached 3 point something mag. and had nice tails in the end but it was not a great comet by any means: just look how small and faint it appears next to the southern Milky Way!

including widespread famine, refugee crises, disease, and extreme weather,
while also exploring how these changes will transform politics, culture, and technology,
serving as an urgent call for immediate…

This interview from 4 years ago mentions Konate's father being ill.
"Hamadi has never been to see him play, because of illness, but watches his matches on TV and Konaté calls him every day."
My uninformed speculation: his father's health took a turn for the worse this season and the strain of worry and concern affected Ibou deeply. It would explain a lot. He is a fairy private person, so we likely won't know, but if that's right and he's carried thi…

I think I got uninvited to be a guest on a podcast run by an expat in #Japan because she didn't like a post where I called convenience store #food #unhealthy & the same as eating fast food.
