Urenlange files in Europa, vakantiegangers staan drie uur stil voor Gotthardtunnel
Het is zaterdag te merken dat Noord-Europeanen warmere oorden in het zuiden opzoeken. Voor de Gotthardtunnel is zo'n lange file ontstaan dat automobilisten op drie uur vertraging moeten rekenen. Ook elders staan kilometerslange files.

In Zuid-Europa krijgen de kinderen na ‘onze’ zomervakantie nog eens 7 weken schoolsluiting erachteraan. En die kinderen komen heus ook goed terecht.

Waarom duurt de zomervakantie 6 weken? En voor hoelang nog?

Sinds gisteren heeft ook Regio Midden zomervakantie; kinderen uit het Noorden en Zuiden van het land hadden dat al. Die zomervakantie duurt zes weken en is verplicht voor alle basis- en middelbare scholen in Nederland. Fijn voor leraren en kinderen, maar voor werkende ouders kan dit soms een behoorlijke uitdaging vormen. "In Nederland werken scholen en opvang niet samen en moeten ouders het zelf maar uitzoeken", zegt onderwijscolumnist Aleid Truijens in De Rode Draad.
