In the space of 2 months, our 11 year old printer and our 8 year old washing machine both developed faults, more expensive to fix (and spares probably unavailable) than replacing.
I so hate the shithouse durability of most appliances.

I appreciate that content creators need to crank out slop daily to keep Lord Algo from consuming the Earth in fire, but this meme of building washing machines to clean your skunk striped jorts in the Boogaloo has to die. Wind ups, old gas engines, a regular washer with the drum run by a stationary bike, and now this bucket? Just use your fucking hands, dude. Think of all the hours you got back from dumping your shitty commute and your day job. Gotta do something with the time.

My husband. Though I wouldn't classify him as small. Or a thing.
No, seriously, without him, I'd get nothing done. I'd still be trying to get the dishwasher to cooperate and yelling at the washing machine.

Something fun is growing inside a double-glazing panel near our washing machine; I guess it's loving being kept warm a lot of the time (and probably a bit damp). Couldn't say if it's fungal or bacterial or what but it certainly looks very fractal.

The washing machine threw an error about blocked drainage. Not the message I want to get at 10 pm. Anyway, it was an easy fix. I took out the filter, and it was full of wet, soggy fluff. Cleaned it, put it back, and now it’s on the final rinse. All done before bedtime!

OK cap owners, baseball cap cleaning—only hand scrub or gentle cycle in washing machine (in a thing that protects it and prevents bill from being bent)?
(Please only recommend things that you personally do and know that work.)
