Content warning: re: UKPol kids banned SUBTOOT

Don't get me wrong, I certainly think y'all should abandon those ten apps and come join me on the free internet, away from corporate ownership in free unowned spaces where no big money players can control the playing-field. Take away from big money that feed that they use to point your kids and you at whatever scape-goat target they want, from migrants to trans people, from the disabled on benefits to kids using mobile phones.
But you're talking about installing a gateway on the entire internet and giving the government the power to decide who is allowed to use it or not.
That isn't going to get you away from those monopoly capitalists, it's going to entrench them and give them a cosy relationship with an authoritarian government that's about to change to being both authoritarian and also racist and sexist and nativist and far-right-wing.
We want to break up these monopolies and decentralize the power they have and destroy all advertising.
This will do the opposite of that. It is an attempt to enclose the internet commons for corporate interests. It will do that.
It can not be done in a way that protects privacy and anyone saying it can probably has shares in Palantir or similar who will expect to be paid to run these government gateways on internet publishing and who will then leak all your data that they lied about collecting.

My dad, brother, mom, and me at the US bicentennial. I vaguely remember this was some celebration at Valley Forge National Park in PA. We were living in NJ at the time, so we're posed in front of the NJ wagon.
As a kid who was not allowed to have internet, I didn't know much about the world back then. but I'm quite sure the world is a better place today, despite all the fuckery going on right now.
I mean, we were breathing leaded gasoline, among other things.

Scan of a photo from 1976, tinted greenish-yellow with age.

In front of a covered wagon with the words "New Jersey" on its canopy, there is a family of four. Dad has glasses, a white shirt with a glasses case in the breast pocket, and dark slacks. Mom is wearing a colorful patterned blouse, a short dark skirt, and white strap sandals. She's holding up a toddler wearing a light-colored onesie. Next to her stands a preteen boy wearing dark pants and a shirt that looks like it has yellow and wh…

The can't believe you can walk into a T-Mobile store to return your home internet gateway and they're like "sorry we have no idea who you are or whose device this is unless you have the phone number for the device." They can't find you via name, address, or anything like that. Account # or phone #, that's it.

#Firefox is back at the Nazi bar, looks like.
And as evidenced by the blue check, is paying the #Epsteinclass white supremacist for the privilege.

We took time off of X, but we're back. The internet is changing again, so we're here as an independent voice for our users and the open internet.
