One place I don't mind algorithms is in music apps. I just got Weird Al, Korn, Tiesto, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Dr. Dre. That's one well tuned algorithm.

I did a short keynote for a bunch of composers and music people a few days ago on "AI". And since it landed well but wasn't recorded I'll try to redo it (maybe expand it marginally) and upload it.
It's about AI but more about the permission to to what feels right and humane anyways.
And it sounds weird to give people permission for something natural, but the reaction in that room felt like it was meaningful. That standing against the tide of "AI is wit…
@… They were a little confused about my music choice, too. The person asking me about music said "genre" on Pandora, so I said, "uh, Americana", then some weird sounds came out and she asked me if it was the "right album". I had to tell her it wasn't an album, it was a genre. I spent most of the time wishing I had told her Kathleen Edwards, but…
My laptop is packed with random pictures of my favorite music artist. I love collecting them and looking at them again and again because it makes me happy. I guess that’s just my autistic brain doing its thing.
I like sorting the pictures into folders by year, date, and color because organizing stuff is super fun for me.
It might seem weird, but this is totally my thing. Sometimes my special interest mode is always on, and I’m here for it!

And another thing for those of you that get discouraged trying to learn music:
my brain is a weird old thing… The first day I try something new it's just a massive struggle but give it 24 hours to percolate, and the next day it's like 100% easier
at the music inn, glorious old west village instrument shop, for the freewheelin' 86-year-old peter stampfel's release of the brilliant "song shards" with wise/weird/heavy homilies, recent classics, & new dream songs ("I never could have thought of it"). https://peterstampfel.bandcamp.com/al…
#NowPlaying a truly strange, brutal (but also sometimes gentle) record, the new LP 'Under a Gilded Sun' by Atlanta, Georgia's MALEVICH. They claim to make 'weird, heavy music for the end of the world', and.. indeed. This is like, blackened sludge? It's rad. Dissonant but coherent, chaotic but serene. So many textures and dynamics. Riffs, weirdness, everything. Maybe ffo Sumac, Su…
I'm very glad that Ozzie Osborne had his finale at Villa Park and had the adulation of fans and peers.
A single light of weird has gone out though it started a conflagration.
#Music
I had to drive alone for a while and decided to listen to my own music and, surprisingly, I found it good (in its own weird, specific way).
If you like EBM and that kinda stuff, maybe have a listen. Perhaps you'll agree with me

More and more fake artists on Spotify and YouTube lately. Luckily most of the music I listen to is so weird and fucked up that it's not anything that anyone could or would be able to recreate with AI 😂
#NowPlaying this really wild album I only saw because KEXP said they were playing it.. a lot of what they mention I dislike, but I always try all of it, because well, sometimes, there's gems..
Land of Echo is producer Rob Mac collaborators, lots of female vocals, etc- it's a mix of funk, disco, soul, dance- I dig it. Catchy, chill, spacey, weird.
