I searched around 2 hours before they actually was planned to start, and first two "live streams" I found... were some AI-generated parades, trying to pretend being real streams from these parades. Well, they were hilarious, but what the hell, how is this allowed there, what's the purpose?

The truest and most honest answer is •we have no idea how the hell learning works•, not really, only in hints and glimpses. The mind is full of mysteries, and we only have clues.
A good first step is to imagine some alternatives to the conduit metaphor — all also flawed, also tending toward misunderstanding if we take them too far, but having multiple metaphors helps us get unstuck from one:
- What if learning is like •exercise•: the strain of sustained effort stimulates muscle growth?
- What if learning is like •resonance•: what your mind perceives or experiences makes your mind echo that thing, like a string picking up sympathetic vibrations?
- What if learning is like •filling a toolbox•: problems cause your brain to seek out new tools, which give it the capacity to solve similar problems more easily in the future?
…etc etc. A fun exercise is to try to come up with metaphors of your own, think about what they imply, and notice where they fall apart.

Management locked them out for 15 months, during which time they staged multiple self-produced concerts without any help from the management they supposedly needed to function. The conductor who'd rocketed them to international fame resigned, and began conducting the locked-out orchestra's sold-out concerts. Eventually the board caved, tails between their legs. Many of them left, the tool of an orch president resigned, what remained of the board instated the musicians' preferred candidate as the new president, and the board got absolutely none of their precious Powerpoint plan except for a glammy new lobby. It was a rout. The orchestra is now doing better than ever — and the supposed imminent budget implosion that the old board had been raising hell about suddenly vanished along with them.)

- Investment isn’t about •actual• value, except maybe asymptotically. Investment is about correctly predicting what others will •perceive• as valuable.
- When some asset is hot but sketchy on the fundamentals, it doesn't matter whether some people know it or everyone knows it. It's just a game of chicken: just don't be the last to bail.
- Thus the old saying about betting against ill-founded popularity: the market can stay irrational a lot longer than you can stay solvent.
