Series C, Episode 11 - Moloch
GROSE: A great many ways, Madam President. More ways than you've begun to realize. But that isn't why I summoned you to Sardos. [Grose nods at Lector and hands him a card. Lector moves to the machine, and inserts the card.]
SERVALAN: Would you say that again?

There are a lot of takeaways from this:
1. Organizing locally gives you a massive advantage because you will always know your local area better than ICE ever can.
2. Be agile. You can always change tactics faster than a centralized organization.
3. Organize now. The sooner you build your networks, the sooner you can learn.
4. Identify ICE facilities and organize monitoring them directly.
But I think the most interesting one that's not explicitly in there, one that's hinted at the last one, is to go on the offensive. ICE is already afraid. If we all take the anger we have at the murder of #ReneGood, find the local ICE facility that they'll stage from, and bring that anger to #OccupyICE we might be able to just shut the whole thing down preemptively. Completely stop all ICE operations across the US. If they want to fight, they can fight *with everyone, all at once.*
Shut down their ability to operate at all. They have a logistics pipeline. They need cars, they need oil in those cars, they need to be able to move those cars to target areas. They also need money to pay those agents. All of those can be disrupted.
The regime needs your money and labor to maintain the illusion of legitimacy. They chose a bad time because you can hit both of those at once *right now* with a combination of #GeneralStrike and #TaxStrike, and then #BoycottEverything.
The regime is weaker than it's ever been. It's flailing. Their own base is demanding the release of the #EpsteinFiles. Their last gasp attempt to prevent the radical change that's coming is just to ethnically cleanse the US back to the 50's (which is what they always meant by "Make America Great Again"). Trump will do anything to stay in power, even if it means killing everyone on Earth in the process. But Americans can end it now by going on the offensive.
Now is the time.

And so the humongous flat antenna of the direct-to-cell comsat #BlueBird 6 has unfolded, "the Largest Commercial Communications Array Antenna Ever" as the AST press release https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260210108166/en/AST-SpaceMobile-Successfully-Completes-Unfolding-of-BlueBird-6-the-Largest-Commercial-Communications-Array-Antenna-Ever-Deployed-in-Low-Earth-Orbit crows: now it's now up to the astronomical community to observe it and determine its magnitude. Are the Block 2 BlueBirds worse than the already outrageously bright Block 1 satellites - or did the promised (!) countermeasures reduce their impact? In any case dozens more of these satellites are to be launched this year, followed by hundreds more ...

Meanwhile, Schumer’s much-touted list of demands is (oh, shocker) pathetic weak sauce: “a prohibition on [ICE] wearing masks, the imposition of a code of conduct and independent investigations of violations.”
…which, like…
(1) Sure, that would be nice — comically insufficient, but nice
(2) DHS already ignore the very clear laws that are on the books; why on earth do you think it would help to have more rules for them to ignore?
(3) ICE CBP right now are basically the KKK except with a budget the size of Russia’s military. Decimate that budget or GTFO.

"... for his and his family’s safety, [Gustavo Petro] agreed to a diplomatic posting in Belgium in 1994. While there, he studied environmentalism and economics at the University of Louvain, and he became deeply interested in the work of Romanian economist Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen, who warned that while the global economy relies on constant growth, the Earth cannot be exploited forever."
The uncertain brightness and tail(s) development of #Kreutz #comet C/2026 A1 (MAPS) is one thing - see the curves in https://astro.vanbuitenen.nl/comet/2026A1 and https://aerith.net/comet/catalog/2026A1/2026A1.html for guesses and https://cobs.si/obs_list?id=2688 for the current value which is ~8.5 mag. - but the viewing geometry is the other: here it is for 51.5° North (my place Bochum) and 22.5° South (Windhoek) as the view is much better from the southern hemisphere.
The table first gives the elongation (angle between comet and Sun in the sky) and the phase angle (the angle Sun - comet - Earth) which nearing 180° can lead to significant boost of brightness by forward scattering on dust.
And this is followed by the altitude of the comet at the solar depressions given in the top line, for Bochum and Windhoek: sunset and end of civilian twilight and for the latter also the end of nautical and astronomical twilight, i.e. the onset of night. Also of importance is the angle of a hypothetical dust tail (simulated in https://hdr-astrophotography.com) after perihelion, also much better in the South: https://britastro.org/section_news_item/c-2026-a1-maps-a-kreutz-group-sungrazer - but first MAPS has to survive the latter *and* release a lot of dust at the right time ...
Good Morning #Canada
On February 28th, 1838, a small band of revolutionaries crossed into Canada from Alburg, Vermont, and immediately declared the independence of Lower Canada (Quebec). An Anglo-Quebecer physician named Dr. Robert Nelson, who was elected general of the insurrectionists and president of the future Canadian republic, distributed copies of a declaration of independence and issued proclamations of new legislation. It's doubtful the newly liberated Canadians had time to read all this as Nelson and his band of 300 men were pushed back across the border in hours, and promptly arrested by the Americans. After his release Nelson tried again in November of the same year only to fail even more spectacularly. A reminder that #Democracy is fragile and has to be protected and defended, even today.
The Dictionary of Canadian Biography gives us an excellent view of Nelson's life and failed rebellions, to be enjoyed over your morning coffee.
