Kids back then had it easy. To hack a pay phone, you just had to whistle into the receiver. But today, only highly trained opera singers can hit the 13.56 MHz frequencies necessary to whistle an RFID signature.

I spent Sunday with friends I hadn’t seen in a month or more. We baked cookies, worked on a jigsaw puzzle, shared stories. The story sharing consists of someone talking about a personal experience that would have seemed unthinkable a month ago: a friend with a missing relative, a car left in the street, a family who had 8 loads of laundry because they couldn’t leave the house, running on the ice and fumbling for the whistle while witnessing somebody being abducted right there, right in front of them.
After each story, there is really nothing to say. It is horrible. We nod. We know. We continue the puzzle.

Ended with a grand total of 373 (working 😅) whistles at the deadline for drop off today! I pivoted from small ones in bulk to my favorite big/super-loud ones.

@… I think dB volume is only one part of the equation, most of the whistles I’ve tested max out at about ~120 dB with a heavy blow. A good estimate for a speaking voice is ~60 dB. The frequency of a whistle plays a part in how far the sound carries too. The triple tone whistle has three different pitches, so it’s a more full sound. Happy to answer questions
