Getting to the very end of last year’s garden harvest and preservation work. Harvested and froze the leeks. Made a potent Louisiana Style Jalapeño sauce and simple Taco Sauce from some fermented Jalapeños. Already ready for this year’s harvest. 🤣 🌱

A local company has really strung my 17yo along, got free work out of him and then not offered him a job 😡 To cheer us all up here's a photo of Sparky and Tails enjoying a supervised garden visit yesterday. They're still a bit wee to have free rein outside but not for much longer.

Plant specimens and teaching materials that inspired Charles Darwin
and qualified him to work as a naturalist on HMS Beagle
have been unearthed from an archive in Cambridge
and will be used for the first time to teach contemporary students about botany.
The fragile specimens, ink drawings and watercolour illustrations of plants belonged to
Darwin’s teacher and mentor,
Prof John Stevens Henslow,
and have been stored in Cambridge University’s herbarium…
