My old monitor died a few days ago. Today I connected the new one and it wasn't detected by xrandr --listmonitors. The docking station works fine, the power supply too. What if I change the monitor cable layout, swapping them between VGA, HDMI, and DP? Nope!
Anyway, after half an hour of different tests, I applied the ignorant solution, i.e., restarting the laptop. Guess what? It works. Why? No fucking clue, man! And I'm the "computer expert" in the family.

@… Just running xrandr with no parameters in a terminal with the mis-sized monitor on fixes this for me. But I'm not on Wayland...
