I think it is an illusion that we mathematicians are all these unicorns with our blackboards who do this mathemagic.
Turns out, 80% of what we do can be automated. Does it follow that 80% of us will be out of our jobs now? I think yes.
Btw, I think this also applies to industry jobs because what we train, to gather all the relevant facts for a problem, structuring, making an excel sheet, systematically going through available information, dealing with uncertainty. AI is pretty good at that.
