I see a lot of #3dPrinting content overlap with machining and metal working.
The making and designing aspect of that is mildly interesting to me, but I know I'll likely never have a CNC/metal lathe/wielder. It just wouldn't fit into my space nor would I have the time to learn the craft.
All of this content is just kind of a miss for me. Am I alone in this?
I am intrigued by this board.
Dual RISC-V cores, one running Arduino and the other running Linux on-board ethernet. The kicker: they can jointly control the GPIO pins. Oh, and it's $8.
It's likely not powerful enough to run #Klipper in a #3dPrinting application today, BUT this w…

I wish #SolveSpace had a mirroring operation...
But with some constraints one can fake the mirroring with the rotate-and-copy functionality.

It's really rough, but the cabinet structural members are starting to take shape. Interior cabinet space will allow a drawer unit with a 45x15 cm face. #3DPrinting #Solidworks #KnockdownFurniture
I've been teaching myself 3D design over the last 12 months, mainly with Fusion 360 and Onshape. I mainly use it to design items for my 3d printer. Today I learnt how to put ribs into my designs to make them stronger without adding much more weight or using much more filament. #3dprinting #3ddesign
For the intersection of the #BelieveInFilm|#AnalogPhotography and #3DPrinting crowd: Has anyone found a good method for making spacers one could use to load 2 rolls of 120 film on a single Paterson/AP-style reel for developing?
I've just (successfully) used the "taping the two rolls together”-method but it's really fiddly. It feels like it should be possible to make small plastic spacers to avoid the two rolls overlapping instead (& putting on one roll is such a waste of chemicals/time).
Had to happen eventually....

This company is in Madison, Wisconsin... anyone know anything about them?

Due to travel and things I hadn’t done any #3dPrinting for two weeks.
Anyone want to guess what I’m doing today?
(Aside from printing too fast and under extruding in the corners 😉)
I'm super looking forward to finally getting on a CNC mill. Let's see if this funky idea actually can be made. #3DPrinting #CAD #Solidworks

I don't trust many #3dPrinting YouTubers, but I do trust Igor.
He did a pretty comprehensive #Sovol SV08 review this morning. I'm still excited to get mine (ordered, no shipping info yet).
Does it look like Bambu-level plug and play? No. But I feel pretty comfortable fixing most of…
I was somewhat skeptical of multi-color prints on the Bambu Lab printers using the AMS but now that I've started to design things I'm trying to be efficient and I've got it down to a single color change after the first layer and there is no tower of wasted filament.
For these prints it's just a single layer of text on the bottom but I'm pleased with the very minimal print time it adds and almost zero waste.
So I had a $50 gift card from Bambu Lab and realized the A1 mini was on sale and with the gift card applied it knocked it down to $175 so I guess I ordered another printer.

So.. I snagged an early bird #Sovol SV08.
It ticked enough of my #3dPrinting boxes. We’ll see how it goes!
Starting to move up to full size parts. Parts so large that #PrusaSlicer needs to add a split in the middle. I think we're going to need a bigger boat. #3DPrinting #Furniture

My boss got sick of me bringing in prints from home off my Bambu Lab printer and comparing them to our Enders so he said “Fuck it!” and ordered two Bambu Lab printers for the office. #3DPrinting
Huh. Filaments.ca is no more. I didn’t have the place where I buy my kn95 masks to acquire my preferred filament supplier.

I do wonder what will happen to their speciality filaments or if it’ll just become another filament reseller.
Wow is that strong. This is a full size 150mm print of a vertical post that measures 56x58mm. There are two horizontal 20x40mm bars that slot in. They are held in place with a vertical pin you slide into the hole on the top that's about 6mm diameter and 65mm tall. #3DPrinting #Prusa

#3DPrinting is not only kinda expensive but it is also heavy. I just got to the part of realizing the printer with the spool is like 20 lbs. And this enclosure is going to be like another 15 lbs. and it is also the size of a small table. So now I have to find room for this beast. It's not a problem, just a consideration.

It’s not advertised as matte but it sure looks like.

In the #3dPrinting world, #OpenSource is so misunderstood.

First, I love this project and want to build it.
However, I'm going to go 'Old Man Yells at Cloud' on calling it open source and how the maker projects and #3Dprinting may be unintentionally damaging the general understanding of #OpenSource.

The latest version now has attachable side and back veneers. Not pictured are some of the #Solidworks prototyping to check the fit before #3Dprinting it.

The #furniture project has been evolving. We now have a system that supports multiple tiers. This is a 3D printed model of posts and overlapping bars with overlapping pins. I can't wait to see what we can do with this. #3Dprinting
