‘They slammed their M16s against his skull’:

Amy Goodman says.
It is not a typical observation for a journalist to make,
but it is the approach a…

I feel like every time mydialect.us becomes a trend here I get completely different results saying the same shit. I've never even been to the southern or western halves of America

You talk most like someone from Nevada — about 46% of your answers match a typical resident.

Interpolated from the nearest survey responses.
Most similar cities:

    Charlotte, North Carolina (45%)
    Miami, Florida (45%)
    Atlanta, Georgia (45%)

Least similar

    Minneapolis, MN (41%)
    Omaha, NE (42%)
    Milwaukee, WI (42%)

What gave you away: Answers that point most strongly to Nevada.

"So you're telling me that this spoiled take-out rice *really* sparks joy?", he meowed at me, and I had to admit that he had a point. #CatsOfMastodon #FridgeCat

A silver fridge with french doors, of which one door is open. A tabby cat (Twig) sits inside the fridge, facing out but with his head turned around looking up into the items in the fridge. His butt is on the inside floor of the fridge, and his front paws are on the top of the freezer door. Partially visible is a mix of typical fridge food (mayo, ketchup, whipped cream, miso, open cat food, salsa, etc).
Same fridge and same cat (sitting in the same spot), but this time zoomed in a little further and the cat is looking towards the camera. He has one ear forward and one ear off to the side, with a disbelieving expression on his face.

The morning after, I'm thinking about how the US didn't just lose the game against Belgium, but also lost the reputation boost that hosting countries typically enjoy.
Russia and Qatar leveraged their World Cups as sportswashing... a ball-and-cup trick swapping a troubled record for a month of hope and unity. Whatever the world thought of them going in, the spectacle helped to rewrite it.
The US blundered that same opportunity with a phone call. 🧵

Academia is so cooked.
I'm constantly getting emails for courses like this one, which promises to teach you to use GenAI to (a) come up with survey items, and (b) to then *validate* those items. Step (a) is bad enough, but then step (b), which typically involves asking humans to take the survey and then using sophisticated techniques to make sure it's measuring what you want it to, is replaced by piping the survey into the computer and treating the output text as meanigful res…

Washington’s battleground 3rd District is a high priority for both parties.
The district went for President Trump in 2024 while reelecting moderate Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez.
Gluesenkamp Perez, a centrist who was first elected narrowly in 2022 and has made a name for herself by sometimes breaking with her party,
successfully fended off primary challengers on Tuesday to advance to the November ballot.
Republican Braun, a retired Navy captain, won the other sp…
