So incredibly angry at Mark Carney, who I thought, with all his UN "climate tzar" cred, would be able to bridge the divide between industry and co2 emissions.
Turns out, he is just an oily vassal for complete climate and carbon capitulation.
Alberta's oil industry is "very happy" acording to Alberta Premier Smith's Chief of Staff.
It's full steam ahead for carbon emissions. They have what they believe is a green light for massive growth.

Steven Guilbeault lays out the truth. Canada will not reach its climate targets.
““[Carney] thinks we’ll be able to do this with the market, with private investment. Of course, we have to do that, but I also think we need to have regulations in place to ensure that we achieve the goals we have set for ourselves. And by abandoning many of these measures, that becomes impossible.
“I mean, if we are honest with Canadians, we can no longer achieve our targets for 2030 with the announcements that have been made recently. It’s not possible.””
... he goes on to say Danielle Smith is (effectively) Donald Trump.
"“In my opinion, she is not a reliable partner in this negotiation.””
It is now abundantly clear that the Liberal Party and all Canadians really did lose something when Mark Carney became Prime Minister.

Beaverton is hitting it out of the park today.
"Danielle Smith uses notwithstanding clause to declare herself Premier of BC”
"“This is a matter for the courts, probably,” Carney said. “It’s not my place to get involved in interprovincial issues. Unless the extraction industry asks me to. Wait, have they asked? No? Not yet? Okay, then let the courts handle it until then.””
lol

"Nine members of Premier Danielle Smith’s United Conservative Party caucus are facing recall petitions — enough to potentially tip the balance of power in the legislature.”
Imagine... IMAGINE... if the a majority-government in Canada lost their majority through recalls. Epic.

This is so damning. The top of the CBC story (JP Tasker reporting)
“Smith said she got Carney to back down on most of the Trudeau-era "nine bad laws," as she calls them, that restricted oil and gas development in Alberta.
Carney, meanwhile, says he got Alberta to buy into the Pathways carbon capture project to try and decarbonize the oil pumped out of the province.”
It would be like Putin saying he got Zelenskyy to back down on Donbas and Crimea, but Zelenskyy says Putin agreed to security guarantees from Russia and the USA.
Carney = Capitulator
Also... YOU CAN'T DECARBONIZE OIL.
ffs. what a stupid statement.
Maybe Putin will De-TNT his Ballistic Missiles.

The most beautiful democratic act happening right now in Canada is in Alberta, yes Alberta, where constituents are using the new - easier to reach - petitioning and recall rules enacted by the current UCP government to launch recall campaigns on UCP Members of the Legislature.
This is the 3rd one to be approved to move on to the signature-gathering stage!

Thank God for the good and sane people defending their traditional territories in BC's north coast.
“As the Rights and Title Holders of the Central and North Coast and Haida Gwaii, we are here to remind the Alberta government, the federal government, and any potential private proponent that we will never allow oil tankers on our coast, and that this pipeline project will never happen,” Slett said."

Fascinating that BC's population dropped marginally (2154 people) last quarter ... but it still had the second highest inter-provincial migration of any province!
If we're anything like Alberta, then it's a good bet the biggest source of decline was in temporary international residents.

Waiting for the announcment and press conference, the CBC live blog has this nugget:
"Alberta's deficit was initially $1.3B in the February budget, then grew to $6.5B by summer and has likely swelled even further with weak oil and natural gas prices."
Is there an Albertan leader of any party willing to utter the words:
"Maybe the vagaries of Oil and Gas prices is not what we should base our provincial budget on. Perhaps it is time to look at something else.”

I'll reserve full judgement for when the actual agreement is public... but here's the hot-take on the 75% reduction in methane emissions in 10 years.
Which emissions?
And show me a target Canada has ever hit.
Details. I want details, plans, concrete actions to make it happen.

May this haunt Mark Carney for his entire tenure as Prime Minister as #TMX did for Trudeau.
Our federal Liberal and Conservative revolving door governments are simply incapable of extricating themselves from oil…
Canada will continue to literally burn because of it.

Since multiple Ottawa CBC reporters seem utterly incapable of understanding what First Nations groups are what in BC here are some facts about the Coastal First Nations. It has existed since 2003.
coastalfirstnations.ca/about/
"The Great Bear Initiative Society (a non-profit society under the BC Societies Act), also known as Coastal First Nations-Great Bear Initiative (CFN), is an alliance of First Nations on the North Pacific Coast that includes the Gitga’at, Gitxaała, Haida, Heiltsuk, Kitasoo Xai’xais, Metlakatla, Nuxalk and Wuikinuxv First Nations. " Their territories span on the mainland coast of BC from the top of Vancouver Island to the Alaska Border including Haida Gwaii.

If you want to see what is possibly the most dangerous “maritime cross roads” in Canada in terms of weather, geography, traffic, environmental impact, and all the rest:
I have annotated a map near Gill Island.
We don’t know the pipe route. If it’s Kitimat rather than Rupert because a route exists, this is where tankers would go.
